Job Summary
The Production Control - Assistant Team Leader will work directly with the team members, overseeing and supporting all necessary activities related to Shipping, and the Materials department.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure all safety devices are in place, in proper working order, and ensure all team members are working in a safe manner.
- Perform scheduled audits such as JKK, 5S, Forklift Standards, etc. and report non-conformances
- Participate in problem solving using the Fishbone, and 5P methods as required.
- Promote, and demonstrate positive attitude, good working habits and strive to achieve the company’s goals and objectives by utilizing the FMDS methods.
- Investigate all accidents / incidents as required, complete the accident report in full and be prepared to report the incident verbally to the Coordinator.
- Coordinate training of new team members and conduct regular follow-ups as required, report training status, concerns (if any) to the Coordinator.
- Conduct daily team meetings and communicate shift issues with the Coordinator.
- Ensure that team members are following Standardized Work Instructions.
- Ensure a daily communication and hand off has taken place between yourself and the Afternoon Shipping supervisor prior to them leaving, as well as the Day Shipping supervisor prior to you leaving.
- Primary contact for all customer concerns, enquiries related to both non-sequence and sequence shipping to customers.
- Understanding and capable to perform all duties related to preparing and shipping of parts to the customer as required.
- Work with the Midnight Shift Plant supervisor to notify the appropriate Management personnel for critical situations that could / will disrupt the customer production lines.
- Ensure the safety stock levels are maintained in the warehouse, investigate and report min. violations to the Warehouse Coordinator as required.
- Oversee and ensure expedite shipments are received & delivered to the appropriate department(s)
- Work with internal customers for accurate / timely delivery of materials to the respective departments.
- Responsible for implementation and maintenance of 5S principles in the Shipping/Warehousing
Job Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One to three months related experience and/or training
Experience
- Forklift / Tugger Certification
- Airial lift license as required
Skills and Abilities
- Basic understanding of AS400 / Ultriva inventory systems
- Ability to show versatility and resourcefulness when problem solving
- Ability to organize priorities based on deadlines and importance of tasks
- Manage time efficiently while working on several different tasks at once
- Ability to adapt to changing demands from customers as well as fellow team members
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and detail orientation
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to speak in front of groups of people, and ability to effectively communicate information with all team members and management
- Actively listening to customers and team members about concerns or issues that may arise
- Ability to manage a small group of professionals towards a shared goal

- Must have a valid driver’s license
