Job Summary
The Energy Analyst is responsible for identifying, reporting, and implementing energy-saving opportunities throughout Vuteq’s facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Create database/energy tracking and monitoring system for Vuteq’s facilities
- Draft processes that capture current monthly energy consumption and electrical load of inventory of major equipment
- Train team members on new tracking and monitoring system
- Review existing energy study reports and assess all areas/departments in order to identify any energy saving opportunities, and recognize which systems require more detailed evaluations
- Review control systems, operating schedules, and maintenance practices within plant to classify operational savings
- Develop maintenance practices and programs to enhance energy efficiency
- Identify, assess, prioritize, and recommend to management various energy-saving opportunities, including both capital improvement projects and operational maintenance changes
- Prepare business cases to justify capital expenditures, and complete applications to local distribution companies (LDC)/conservation and demand management (CDM) to maximize funding available for energy-saving projects
- Coordinate implementation of energy-saving projects, including planning, budgeting, and scheduling for design, installation, commissioning, and verification of energy efficiency projects
- Work with team members to develop strategies for measurement and verification of energy-saving projects
- Work to create and foster a sustainable energy management culture at all facilities, and provide an avenue to employees to recognize and report issues and ideas regarding energy conservation and efficiency
- Implement team member training and awareness program to promote energy conservation and communicate the energy efficiency initiatives undertaken
- Coordinate and support site inspections performed by LDC/Ontario Power Association (OPA)
- Collect relevant information regarding additional electrical energy use (equipment purchases, schedule changes, occupancy changes, construction, etc.)
- Complete any necessary reports to demonstrate energy saving activities to management group
Job Qualifications
Education
- Successful completion of a minimum three-year engineering advanced diploma from a college (environmental engineering/environmental science considered relevant)
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Certified Energy Procurement (CEP) Professional designations considered assets
Experience
- 1 – 2 years of experience in environmental sustainability
- 2-3 years of experience with provincial and federal regulations regarding energy conservation
Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding of the distribution of energy flow and how it relates to the bottom line
- Ability to measure and monitor environmental footprint as it pertains to energy use and policy
- Technical fluency in electrical and mechanical systems and leading energy management solutions
- Strong verbal and oral communication skills
- Ability to analyze large amounts of complex data and turn out actionable insights
- Excellent time management skills
- Aptitude for multi-tasking and a willingness to become involved in daily operations

- Must have a valid driver's license
